new font

I finally found a font that I like (and earned Rachel Babiak's approval lol) for the text on my amps. It is called Broken 15. The baseline is distorted and the edges of the letters are slightly distressed but still readable. I also like the details around the outside of the individual letters that reference a label or letter sticker. I think this works great because most amps are decorated with stickers spelling the name of the band.

First Information Design Sketch

I went on the Habitat trip over spring break which lasted a week and immediately upon my return I began working on the Information design project. I am drawing everything in Illustrator because I don't want this project to just be a collage of internet images. I plan on using gradiants to fill my objects and give them a more realistic, graphic style with out looking cartoon-y. This is just a sketch to get and idea on the layout etc.

The lights will be the social forces influencing music. The Flags will be information on Woodstock Festivals, dates and line ups. The speakers will show the evolution of rock music as it gets louder and more violent. The hands in the crown will gradually turn to fists, and will include information of violence at concerts such as mosh pits deaths etc.

I am doing a lot of research beyond this project. It is something that is really interesting to me and I am putting a lot of time into it. I think it is a good question to ask, "How come the the first Woodstock ended with a feeling of peace and love and the 99' Woodstock ended in chaos and flames?" Thats what I am exploring in this project.
